At Nativity of Our Lord, we welcome everyone's gifts and talents. Following are current programs and committees. Please call the rectory if you wish to bring your gifts to any of these commissions, committees, or programs. ​

CHRISTIAN SERVICE COMMISSION  creates and/or promotes at the parish level, programs that address human needs and justice issues.
  • Parish Health Committee develops programs to promote the health and well being of the parish community.
  • Peace and Justice Committee meets to pray and consider issues related to peace and justice.
CHRISTIAN SERVICE GROUPS

  • Visit the Sick and Elderly: Call and/or visit the sick and elderly of the parish.
  • Thursday Food Program Workers: Volunteers work Thursdays from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. to pack food for clients.  They also sort and shelve food that is donated and package bulk foods whenever needed.
  • Funeral Luncheon Workers: Workers will serve, set up and clean up after a funeral luncheon.

  • Funeral Luncheon Bring a Dish: Volunteers will make and bring a dish for funeral luncheons
  • Bakers: Volunteers will make homemade baked goods when needed for bake sales, fish fries, funerals, special parish events, etc

 
EDUCATION COMMISSION oversees the development and implementation of education programs to meet the spiritual, physical and mental needs of parish members.
  • Adult Education Committee plans education programs for adults of the parish.
  • Anti Racism Committee plans education programs to work against racism in our society.
  • Religious Education Committee develops and carries out the education programs for school aged children of the parish.

EDUCATION COMMISSION GROUP
Sunday Preschool: Volunteers will implement class activities to meet the spiritual needs of pre-school parish children each Sunday during the 11:00 Mass.  Children will be brought up to join parents in Church during the greeting of peace.  Training provided.

EVANGELIZATION COMMISSION oversees outreach efforts to address the return of once active parish members and the development of programs and activities to reach out to the un-churched community.

SOCIAL COMMISSION oversees the planning and sponsoring of events and activities that provide an opportunity for the parish family to fellowship in social settings.

STEWARDSHIP COMMISSION oversees the fiscal matters of the parish including the parish budget, maintenance of the parish buildings and personnel.
  • Fund Raising Committee plans and carries out major annual parish fundraisers
STEWARDSHIP COMMISSION GROUPS

Skills and Talents: Volunteers donate a skill or talent to assist the upkeep of Nativity.  Painting, Carpentry, Electrical, Typist/Computer skills, Artistry, Etc.,

Church Clean Up and repair: Help when extra work is needed to keep our church looking great.

Laundry: Help with laundering table cloths and altar linens when needed.


Weekend Snow Shoveling: Volunteers shovel snow and spread salt around doors and steps before Masses whenever it accumulates on Saturday afternoon or night, or Sunday morning.

Altar Care and Decorating: Help with special decorations for special occasions.

WORSHIP COMMISSION works to strengthen our liturgical celebrations through planning and training those who serve as ministers in the various areas.
  • Regular Liturgy Committee plans Songs for Weekend Masses.
  • Special Liturgy Committee plans and prepares for special events such as Lent, Advent, All Souls Day, etc.
WORSHIP COMMISSION GROUPS

Friday Night Prayer Team: Volunteers will commit to spend one hour in prayer weekly between the hours of 9:00 p.m. Friday night and 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning. At the end of the hours, volunteers are responsible for calling the next person scheduled to pray to maintain the prayer chain. Volunteers are also needed to substitute for someone who may be out of town or unable to pray a particular week. 

Eucharistic Ministers: Volunteers assist with the distribution of communion at each of the masses. Training required.



Music Leaders/Cantors:
  • Choir: Practice Tuedays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  •               and sing at the 9:45 a.m. Mass.
  • Cantor: Leads the singing during one of the Masses.
                         Training Required.

Ushers/Greeters: Volunteers will arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of Mass to greet people as they enter Church, distribute bulletins and prayer cards, take up the collection before the offertory, and ensure the church is in order at the end of Mass. Training required.
